Subject: Moving Towards a Zero Suicide Society - the Jordan Legacy - For the Attention of the Chief Executive Officer

    Dear Chief Executive Officer,

I'm contacting you on behalf of The Jordan Legacy, which was set up by Steve Phillip after losing his son Jordan to suicide, aged 34, in December 2019 - it's just coming up to the 4th anniversary of losing Jordan.

The Jordan Legacy has a focused mission to facilitate practical action to get the suicide numbers down from the unacceptably high (and needlessly high) level of 6000+ preventable deaths every year in the UK (5000+ preventable deaths in England each year for the past 15 years); working collaboratively with national government, local government, NHS, the education system, charities & community organisations, employers, etc, to achieve this reduction.

Is this a subject you know about or would like to know more about, or to be more involved in?

Steve Phillip & Paul Vittles have recently carried out action research and published a report 'Moving Towards a Zero Suicide Society' which many of those working in suicide prevention have called 'ground breaking'.

You can access the report via this link to The Jordan Legacy website:

    https://thejordanlegacy.com/moving-towards-a-zero-suicide-society-edition-2-of-the-report/

I've also attached the report as a pdf.

Several local Suicide Prevention Leads have said they'll draw from The Jordan Legacy report in creating, adapting or updating their suicide prevention strategies & plans for the next 5 years, partly because of the strength of The Jordan Legacy's work in mapping out its Zero Suicide Society vision, model & transformation programme, and partly because they've been so disappointed with the Government's latest 'low ambition, no reduction target, no new money' National Strategy.

Here's The Jordan Legacy's published response to the new National Suicide Prevention Strategy for England, 2023-2028:

    https://thejordanlegacy.com/the-jordan-legacys-response-to-the-governments-national-suicide-prevention-strategy-2023-2028/

You may also be interested in a live petition to parliament which was launched by The Jordan Legacy after collating all of the key practical actions required of national government & parliament that emerged from Paul & Steve's action research:

    https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/640961

The petition is getting close to the 10,000 signatures threshold which would require the Government to provide a formal, written response to the petition proposals.

It will be interesting to see what the Government's response is - to the package of measures, and the individual components.

Please let me know if you want me to connect you with Paul & Steve at The Jordan Legacy. Here is the link to the Jordan Legacy's
    LinkedIn page: Jordan Legacy

    Kind regards,

    Laura Hunter
